Description
This one of a kind experience gives students a sense of what it takes to be an astronaut and inspires them to be our next generation of explorers! During this week long day camp students will learn from experts in their fields such as the Magnetosphere chief of NASA's Goddard Space Center about topics including how space affects the human body, sustainable environments in space, landing and take off through a planet's atmosphere, the history of space flight, and plans for future exploration to Mars! The students will also build and code robots and they each get to construct and launch their very own rocket! Throughout the day students will also participate in team building actives and work on STEM challenges with their fellow space campers; great teamwork skills are a must for all astronauts! There are hands on actives and experiments at every activity. Wednesday is our field trip day and students will get to see radio control airplanes, visit the Sparta airport and see planes up close and talk with pilots, conduct zero gravity experiments at the Sparta pool, and visit the planetarium in La Crosse. Our week ends on Friday with a presentation from a NASA astronaut and a graduation ceremony Friday evening followed by a dinner for students and their families. It's an amazing week with once in a lifetime experiences.
