DESCRIPTION:The Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce and Down a Country Road is offering a bus tour of the Amish community on Saturday\, May 9th\, 2015 starting at 9:00am. The bus will leave from the Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce's parking lot at 111 Milwaukee St. The tour will take you to the gifts shops and then through the Amish community with a return to the Sparta Area Chamber around 12:30pm. In exchange for the $15 fee\, each person will receive Kathy Kuderer's book "Down a Country Road with the Amish". Space is limited\, so make your reservation by calling Kathy at (608) 654-5318 before May 5\, 2015.\n\n\n\nThe collaboration comes from an opportunity grant from the Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce. The Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce offers an opportunity grant for area businesses and organizations. The purpose of this grant is to foster the mission of "Welcoming Businesses\, Unifying the Community\, Creating Possibilities". Funding amounts will vary depending on the number of requests received\, total amount of funds available in any fiscal year and the ability to meet the goals of the Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce. This year\, two grants were awarded.\n\n\n\nDown a Country Road was awarded $800 to start an Amish community awareness campaign. Kathy provided a two hour seminar on April 23rd for the Sparta community. This tour is a follow up from that informative meeting. The grant is being used to promote the Amish area with the intent of increasing tourism and economic development to the region.
