SUMMARY:Community Dance/Potluck
DESCRIPTION:Looking for something fun to do with your family this summer! Come join us for a fun night of dancing and socializing. We have a Community Dance scheduled with a group of students from Duluth\, MN! This is sure to be a great time! There will be a potluck dinner prior to the dance at 5:30pm. Bring a dish to pass and stay for the dance! \n\n\n\nTom Maloney is a math teacher at Harbor City International School. His wife\, Brandy and him are old-time Appalachian musicians and square dance callers. Their band\, Four Mile Portage \, both perform and play dances around the Duluth Area and both help organize the monthly Tamarack Dance Association community dances. I'm involved because I help Tom and Brandy organize the monthly dances as well as know the high school students well.\n\n\n\nTom and Brandy started an afterschool stringband 10 years ago and added the "Sea of Lemmings Dancers" three years ago. They have 20 students who play the tunes\, call the dances\, and lead the dances. They perform regularly for Duluth nursing homes. The pictures attached are of this joyful\, talented group of students. \n\n\n\nThe bike tour was an idea to combine healthy exercise with playing and dancing. There will be a parent driving a vehicle hauling the instruments\, camping gear\, and sound system\, etc. The group will ride the bikes the 69 miles from West Salem through Sparta and Elroy to leave Reedsburg on June 4th\, stopping along the way to play tunes and lead dances at schools\, nursing homes\, churches\, and community centers. Their will be 16 students with 5 adult chaperones that will arrive in Elroy on May 31st with bikes. \n\n\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Sbo1fHoujk
