DESCRIPTION:Join herbalist Amy Shea for a day exploring Wisconsin's lovely spring ephemeral plants.\n\n\n\nIn the Morning\n\nWe will identify and focus our attention on three Spring Ephemerals:\n\n\n\n~Wisconsin's state flower\, the wood violet (Viola sororia)\n\n~Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis)\n\n~Trilium (Trillium grandiflorum)\n\n\n\nWhat will we talk about:\n\n~Plant characteristics and habitat preferences\n\n~Each plant's medicinal properties\n\n~Practical use history and modern day research findings\n\n~Contraindications\, possible side effects\, and cautionary information\n\n~Most common applications for use\n\n~Any herbal folklore and plant spirit wisdom\n\n~We will take time to sit and connect with each of these plants.\n\n\n\nWe will break for a nourishing lunch prepared for us on site by Donna Justin.\n\n\n\nThe Afternoon portion of the day will include:\n\n~Discussion on making herbal teas also called tisanes\n\n~We will discuss the difference between an herbal tea\, an herbal infusion and an decoction.\n\n~You will have the opportunity to blend your own\, which you will get to keep\n\n\n\nAll materials and lunch are included in this class.
