SUMMARY:LEED New Directions and an overview of Leadership in Energy & Environmental
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday August 20th 11:30 am to 1pm Lunda Center Western Technical College La Crosse Campus\n\n	\n\n	More and more we hear of environmental initiatives\, "green" programs or "sustainable" building design\, and interest in such programs has increased. Owners\, architects\, operators\, and engineers speak about these topics\, and numerous groups have developed publications to help design high performance buildings.\n\n \n\n	Join Mick Schwedler\, PE\, LEED AP BD+C\, manager\, Applications Engineering at Trane\, as he examines reasons for this interest\, then overviews the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design\, or LEED\, program. It also shares other energy-efficiency references. Interspersed with the information are methods by which project teams can meet prerequisites or achieve credits in the Water Efficiency\, Atmosphere & Energy\, and Indoor Environmental Quality sections of LEED.\n\n \n\n	Mick has been active in the development\, training\, and support of energy efficient systems since 1982. With expertise in system optimization and control (in which he holds patents)\, and in chilled water system design\, Mick's primary responsibility today is to help designers\, building owners\, and building operators properly apply systems into efficient and sustainable projects. To do so\, he provides one-on-one support\, writes technical publications and industry articles\, and presents seminars. In addition to system energy efficiency\, his subjects include energy standards (ASHRAE 90.1)\, and LEED .
