DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, April 25th the Sparta Sparks Volleyball Club will be hosting a volleyball tournament at the Sparta Meadowview School and will be honoring one of its former players   Katie Flock.\n\nKatie has recently been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  Hodgkin disease (Hodgkin lymphoma) is a type of lymphoma\, a cancer that starts in the white blood cells call lymphocytes.  Lymphocytes are part of the immune system. \n\nFortunately\, Katie's cancer was found early and she is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments with radiation treatments to follow.  Sparta Sparks would like to honor Katie on Saturday\, April 25th during the Sparta Sparks tournament by presenting her with donations from the Sparta Sparks Volleyball Club and the local community.  There will also be a Brat & Hotdog sale along with a Walk/Run scheduled during that time. \n\nSparta Sparks are selling shirts and wristbands in support of Katie and Lymphoma Awareness.  Cost will be $15 for the regular t-shirts (unisex) and $15 for ladies cut t-shirts (these have shorter sleeves and are shorter in the waist).  Long sleeve t-shirts will be offered for $18.  Sizes run from Youth XS to Adult XL (if larger sizes are needed please add $2 for 2XL/$3 for 3XL/$4 for 4XL).  Wristbands will be $4.  If you would like to purchase a shirt or wristband\, please contact Julie Olson (608) 487-1128. Payment can be made at the time of pickup and checks for payment can be made out to Sparta Sparks Volleyball Club.   \n\nKatie played Sparks volleyball from 5th through 8th grade\, and so began the start of a brilliant volleyball career.  Katie played on her high school team\, the Sparta Spartans\, which then lead to recruitment by and a scholarship to play volleyball at Viterbo University in LaCrosse.\n\nSome of Katie's volleyball career highlights include: \n\n          Mississippi Valley Conference (MVC) 2d Team All Conference\n\n          MVC 1st Team All Conference\n\n          2d Team All-Tribune\n\n          Voted College Athlete of the Year in 2013\n\n          Viterbo's All-Time Leader in Kills (1\,840 kills)\n\n          Became just the 3d player in school history to record at least 1\,000 Kills and 1\,000 Digs in a career\n\n          Finished 9th in the country (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletes (NAIA)) in total 561 kills\n\n          Named  Midwest Collegiate Conference (MCC) Player of the Week 3 times\n\n          Helped lead Viterbo to MCC regular season & tournament titles\n\n          Helped lead Viterbo to NAIA quarter finals (Elite 8)\, the school's first appearance in NAIA national tournament\n\n          MCC 1st Team All-Conference (3d straight season)\n\n          American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) First Team All-Region (2d straight season)\n\n          College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America All-District First Team\n\n          NAIA National Championship All-Tournament Team\n\nKatie is currently completing her nursing degree at Viterbo University and plans to graduate on May 9th.\n\n\n\n\n\n*Note: This is not a competitive event.
