Tomah’s 4th of July Events – Parade Route Update
Tomah’s Independence Day celebrations are scheduled for Thursday, July 4th, starting with the Annual 4th of July parade and ending with fireworks at Tomah’s Recreation Park.
The parade starts at 10 a.m. and runs south down Superior Avenue from Nott Street to Holton Street, just past Gillett Park. New this year, the route will travel on the opposite side of the road, to allow the buildings on the east side to provide shade to the parade spectators. Spectators should therefore set up their chairs facing the northbound lane on the east side of Superior. Parking is recommended on Kilbourn Avenue.
The parade participants will line up on McClean Avenue, which will be closed to through traffic that morning and posted with “no parking” signs a day or two prior to the event. This year’s theme for the parade is “Moments in America’s History”. It will feature antique cars and tractors, floats, horses, military, emergency vehicles, bikes and walkers of all sizes.
Later that evening, Tomah residents are encouraged to come out to Tomah’s Recreation Park for the fireworks show. Starting promptly at 10 p.m., the Tomah Lions Club Pryotechnics Crew will start the show. The rain date for the fireworks is Saturday, July 6th.
For more information on the fireworks, contact Chris Hanson at 372-2166.
