Sparta, WI — Economic Development efforts in Monroe County will begin a more aggressive recruitment of high technology companies in the Sparta and Tomah areas with the announcement of Gigabit Internet Service provided by Lemonweir Valley Telcom. Industrial Parks in both communities will have a fiber multi-gigabit network. With the network in place, businesses will be able to experience Internet service driven at dramatically higher speeds.
On January 18, 2013, the FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski issued the Gigabit City Challenge, encouraging broadband Internet providers to bring at least one gigabit speed Internet to all 50 states by 2015. Currently, there are less than 50 cities in the U.S. that offer gigabit service.
Jim Costello, Lemonweir Valley Telcom dba LYNXX, CEO & General Manager commented, “LYNXX’s mission is simply to exceed the business customer’s expectations and provide an extraordinary experience. The goal to provide the industrial parks in Sparta and Tomah with gigabit Internet service is part of this mission. We are leaders in supplying the fastest Internet speedsavailable in the world. This will have a significant impact on businesses’ productivity, employee satisfaction and the bottom line. LYNXX gigabit Internet can seamlessly handle uploading large data files, IP video conferencing and accessing cloud based services awarding the business with the best internet experience right here in Monroe County.”
Not only will current businesses located in the Sparta & Tomah industrial parks benefit from the fast Internet, but LYNXX is looking to the future as potential businesses eye Monroe County for expansion. Jim Costello also states “As one of the few gigabit industrial parks in the nation, there is great potential for new businesses to capitalize on this asset. LYNXX has positioned the bandwidth capacity to meet the demands of businesses well into the future.
Steve Peterson, Monroe County Economic Development Coordinator, feels this is a win-win for business retention and recruitment. “Some of our major companies in the County are already on the system and have seen dramatic efficiencies in their day to day business. Now we can expand on that with creating technology parks in both cities, launching recruitment campaigns to get high technology companies and jobs in Monroe County. Combining a great quality of life, strong workforce and high speed Internet service, we are now a valued destination for those types of businesses that can hit the ground running immediately.”
Peterson plans to work closely with the Economic Development efforts in Sparta and Tomah, collaborating with Lemonweir Valley Telcom on creating a recruitment game plan for businesses looking for and needing Gigabit Internet Services.
“The gigabit internet offering is another great example of how our member companies are providing cutting edge services to their communities and customers,” said Bill Esbeck, Executive Director of the Wisconsin State Telecommunications Association (WSTA). “WSTA members have a history of continuous reinvestment that makes these product offerings possible.”
