Mainly Marathon Race

Description

The Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce and Sparta Parks and Recreation welcomes the opportunity to host the marathon to be held June 10, 2016 in Evans Bosshard Park. This will be part of the “Heartland” series run by Mainly Marathons.
 
Clint Burleson, Race Director, stated he was looking for a new home for the Wisconsin portion of the seven day event that covers seven states in seven days. About the race:
Clint Burleson stated; “We offer three distances a marathon (26.2 miles), a half-marathon and a 5K.  Our courses are short, about a mile in length, and the runners do laps until reaching their distance.  We will have one huge aid station for them at the start that they visit about every two miles. 
 
These runs are quite popular with those who are trying to do a race in all 50 states.  In addition, we do not have time limits like most races, so we attract an older, slower crowd, many walking the whole distance.”

About Mainly Marathon:
Clint says; as an avid runner, I have been to more races than I can count. After 30 years of running marathons and some directing experience with the White Sands Marathon back in the ’90s I decided it might be worthwhile to host groups of interesting, but low-key marathons. Thus, Mainly Marathons was born. Many of the ideas for our races were collected during marathons in discussions with fellow club members of the Maniacs and the 50 States. We are based in southern New Mexico, but our race travels take us all around the nation.
