Description

Building Tomorrow's Workforce: Understanding and Using Effective Internship Strategies

Developing tomorrow’s workforce presents unique challenges for today’s employers. It is increasingly important for employers to identify, attract, and retain capable workers. Students are faced with the need to identify and gain the required knowledge and skills to be successful in their careers. Internships can become an important way to “match” employers and students. To be effective, employers and students need to better understand and use internship strategies that work. At the Spring 2018 Economic Indicators event, Dr. John Nunley, Economics Department at UWL, will offer his current insights and perspectives on the role of internships in supporting the region’s local economy and how they can help build a sustainable workforce. A guest panel of employers will discuss their internship practices and offer insight on how to develop and implement an effective internship program.
