This position is located at within the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation - Business and Recreation Division at Ft. McCoy, WI.

Announcement will a have a first cut office date of March 11, 2026. Applicants that submit an application packet prior to that date and found eligible may be given first consideration.
Duties

  • Serves as the Special Events Coordinator, responsible for assisting DFMWR activities with the planning and execution of community special events that respond to the needs and interest of the military/civilian population.
  • Devises, improvises, and adapts activities to the wide range of participant interest and needs considering limited funds, facilities, equipment, volunteers, support staff, etc.
  • Submits a cost analysis of special events prior to implementation and after each event.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of ongoing activities and coordinates events with Marketing/Commercial Sponsorship, and supervisor, prior to scheduling special events or prior to submission of events for five-year plans.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Conditions of employment

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/T1 background requirements for this position to include a physical.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Driver’s license will be required if operating government vehicles.
  • Duties may involve working both indoors and outdoors.
  • Work requires the use of physical exertion when preparing for and overseeing events. Must be able to lift and carry light to moderately heavy items.
  • Must be able to work an uncommon tour of duty. Operation is 7 days a week. Incumbent will be required to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Shift may vary due to mission.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:
  • Work experience and/or education related to the duties to be performed. Work requires the use of physical exertion when preparing for and overseeing events. Must be able to lift and carry light to moderately heavy items.
In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":
  • Work experience involving special event planning and coordination, public relations, or budget planning and execution.
