Description
The American Legion will host an official AHA/BJCP Homebrew contest judged by a BJCP sanctioned Judge and some professionals in the brewing field in our region.
All proceeds this year will fund our local scholarships for the 2017-2018 year.

Beer Only Contest Information and Rules:
- Contestant must provide two 10-14 oz. bottles of each entered beer for judging. A bottle ID form must be rubber banded to each bottle for identification (taped or glued labels will be disqualified). Identify 2015 BJCP style number, not just beer style on the forms. Please black out any identifying markings on bottle caps.
- Entry form, (recipe information not required) and $7.00 for each brew must be submitted by Thursday, October 5th @ 8pm to the Sparta American Legion Post 100 office.
- No entry is accepted without completed forms. Labels must be attached according to guidelines below. Entries received after the deadline date will be disqualified.
- Mail or deliver in person (please call 608-433-9199 to confirm drop-off times): Sparta American Legion Post#100, attn: VEToberfest Organizer, 1116 Angelo Drive, Sparta, Wi. 54656
- Please make checks payable to “American Legion Post 100”.
- Only one entry per BJCP category allowed. Judging will be completed by Saturday, October 7 and winners will be announced at 4pm via Facebook Live. If not present, they will be notified via email and/or phone. If you are entering a specialty beer, please include details, spices, and other special ingredients as well as the base 2015 BJCP Style. No ciders or meads will be judged.
- Entries will be judged according to the 2015 BJCP style guidelines for the style entered. (Competition organizers reserve the right to alter the number of judging categories based on entries received).The winner of each category will go on to the “Best of Show” round to determine the overall winner of the competition. The winner is announced and crowned “Brew Master” during the awards ceremony at the festival. If the winner has not already purchased a ticket, we will provide the winner and one guest a gate pass.
