More and more we hear of environmental initiatives, "green" programs or "sustainable" building design, and interest in such programs has increased. Owners, architects, operators, and engineers speak about these topics, and numerous groups have developed publications to help design high performance buildings.
Join Mick Schwedler, PE, LEED® AP BD+C, manager, Applications Engineering at Trane, as he examines reasons for this interest, then overviews the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, or LEED, program. It also shares other energy-efficiency references. Interspersed with the information are methods by which project teams can meet prerequisites or achieve credits in the Water Efficiency, Atmosphere & Energy, and Indoor Environmental Quality sections of LEED.
